Friendship. Justice. Perseverance. These are the basic underlying themes of "KG Chi-Pow," according to Masanori Fujii, Creative Producer at French-based entertainment company Qualia, which was originally established in Tokyo.
A fully animated television show, to be rendered in 3D computer-generated animation, "KG Chi-Pow" is the creation of Robert D. Hanna and David F. Lowery of Los Angeles-based Prevalent Entertainment. Hanna and Lowery are well-known in the animation and live-action Hollywood film industry, having worked for such studios as Walt Disney, DreamWorks and Sony Pictures Entertainment on hits like "Shrek," "Shark Tale," "Madagascar," "Over The Hedge" and all three "Spiderman" movies.
"KG Chi-Pow" is set in an Asian-themed fantasy world that combines motifs from ancient China with neo-industrial elements. The challenge set by the makers of the team that worked on the project has been to take original anime characters and then make them beautiful, exciting and attractive in 3D while maintaining the right amount of cartoonish style and fun.
The team has worked hard to make the show appealing to adults, yet fun and equally appealing for children, and so "KG Chi-Pow" is packed with martial arts, conflicts between key characters, physical comedy, action, and -- of course -- romance.
As a story of female empowerment, "KG Chi-Pow" has a strong contemporary relevance, as well as a timeless message of the importance of honor and the power of love. |
